In 1820, settler Joseph Bailly (a French-Canadian fur trader) and his family were one of the first homesteaders in NW Indiana. The Bailly Homestead Landmark includes the Bailly family cemetery.

Established in 1874, the Chellberg Farm is an 80 acre farm that was home to three generations of a Swedish immigrant family. This historic home is typical of a self-sufficient family farm operation in NW Indiana.

The Bailly/Chellberg Trail has 2.5 miles of  woods and fields that connect the historic areas. The Little Calumet River Trail adds another 2.2 miles of hiking.
